My New(er) 4Runner

Hey guys, so those of you who have seen me post know that I had a gray 2005 V8 SR5 with 194k miles on it. Today I upgraded to a newer 4th gen. It’s a 2008, SR5 with leather, moonroof, power seats, nav, etc. V6. It has exactly 83k miles on it. I got it for $12,500 drive out. The dealership is also putting brand new BF Goodrich KO2’s on it next week because they messed up by telling me the tires on it were new, when they were 5 years old, and they’re also putting on the black wheels I had on my 05, on the 08 when they do the tires.

I know, you might be asking yourself why I went to a V6 from a V8, but I was just honest with myself, the V8 wasn’t practical for me. It didn’t get great gas mileage even though I know the V6 isn’t that much better, I didn’t tow or haul anything at all, I rarely went off roading, I just didn’t feel I really needed that big engine. On top of that, the CV Boots were needing to be replaced, the wheel bearings need to be replaced as well, and the AC wasn’t as cold as it used to be. I know I could’ve gotten those things done, but this just made more sense to me to have a lot lower miles and something a little newer that has more on it.

Let me know your opinion. I plan to do a build thread on this one with everything I’m going to do to it. So, goodbye to Bella and hello to Reba [emoji23][emoji23]

P.S. One headlight is clearer than the other because I was in the middle of restoring them

Very nice, love the color. I'm starting to pay attention to the 4th Gen 'runners lately, they are starting to drop in price just enough for them to be affordable to me. I love my 3rd gen, but the extra room and comfort from a 4th gen is a no-brainer for me, I just got to find the right one.

I feel you are going to be a lot more happy with the v6 then with the older v8, i sure don't miss the extra weight i had to deal with with my old Ford fwd v8 Bronco.

And i bought a 08 4 Runner in 2w with v6, i really never needed the 4wd or the extra power of a v8, and the extra cost of maintenance with a 4wd.

I agree! I haven’t missed the V8. Never really used it for its full potential anyway, besides flooring it just to hear the exhaust. But I’ve been more than happy with the V6 so far

One of my fav colors. My first 4Runner was similar in color except it was a 3rd gen. But now I have an obsession with white cars lol... Yours looks great though and even better whenever it's shiny. You still have the sc option if you ever want more power in the future too haha.
