Doesn't really look like a Hilux Surf to me, steering wheel is in wrong place, shouldn't it be passenger side? Also there's no mirror on the hood and the corners are usually clear. But I could be wrong.. anyways nice 4Runner!

We got the better Limited wheels than the real Surfs since they just stuck with the tri-spoke design past 2000.

Japan did keep the different tailgate and offered it with a rear spare carrier.

I think the confusion is that when people refer to the Hilux Surf, they are usually talking about the vehicles sold in Japan. The US models aren't usually referred to that way because, well, they're called 4Runners. Or at least that's my understanding and probably what Fo_Sheezy was thinking.

It doesn't matter though -- regardless of what you call it, it's one hell of a ride! Enjoy it!
