my new OFFROAD squeak?

Hey guys, three nights ago I was out on one of my sandy powerline trails just doing my normal diddle. I didnt do anything out of the ordinary, just cruising, no throwing of sand around really.....
So im chilling in a spot, in Park, and then decide to take off so I put er in DRIVE and go, slowly.
Next thing I know Im hearing a very high pitched squeak. At first i thought there might be someone in the woods fvking with me, or maybe some bird ive never heard before. I mean, I honestly didnt think it was my truck for about 5 minutes of rolling.
It sounds like it is more of a rolling squeak (wheels/brakes?) than a suspension flex squeak. And it ONLY happens offroad.
Im curious if there are any certain places I should look at underneath, maybe spray some WD40? I also cant tell if its front or rear, but I feel that it is in the rear.

I went back out lastnight, and the same story. I figured with ALL THE RAIN we were gonna get it'd be good to get on the road and rinse her thoroughly, but it didnt help.

Sounds basic but I have to ask, small animal caught underneath??? Seriously, have you greased your front and rear driveshaft Zerk fittings recently? The other question would be could some beach sand be migrating into the drum on the rear brake. The drum I speak of is the mini drum-brake that gives us our parking brakes. Let us know what you find. :cheers:

My original, high pitched squeak DOES happen onroad, just not so often. AND now I HAVE ANOTHER fresh louder squeak. This one comes from my right front, and seems to be audible during right hand turns. What the hell is going on? I hosed EVERYTHING out REALLY good yesterday (before I waxed that ass ;-D) making sure to focus on all the front components.
I looked around aswell, but dont really know what to be looking for.....

And no woodland creatures cooking on my borla either :-(

You have an '05. Do you have after market brake pads? Have you replaced the brakes? I ask because some folks have written of sticky calipers that may cause a brake to drag, glaze the pad and/or wear a pad to the 'squealer'. Aftermarket pads sometimes glaze & squeak more easily than OEM.

The going around a turn factors in because the rotor does flex and moves in the vertical plane a tiny bit. This is because the bearing allows a minute amount of movement.

I lived in Daytona for years and the salt air (not to mention beach driving) causes rotors to get a thin coating of rust. It seemed to me that brakes squealed easily and calipers had a tendency to stick even more than where I grew up, Connecticut.

Good luck and grease that driveshaft too (front & rear). :cheers:

PS- When I lived there you could have a nice small home 2 blocks off the beach near Ponce Inlet (on the New Smyna side) for $58k, should've bought 5! :bash:Walk to surf...

Try lubing the hood latch with WD40. My 4Runner gets squeaky after running through dusty desert roads and after spending many hours looking for the squeak it turned out to be the hood latch.
