My New/Old 1998 Runner

Just purchased this 1998 Limited 4X4 at a local dealership through an internet search. 52,893 miles in like new condition. Previously owned a 1993 Runner. My son informed me that the grill on this car is very expensive but offers very little real protection and is basically an overpriced light hanger. After a few days I became used to it so will keep it on.

Very very nice! Which options/upgrades did it have (minus the obvious push bar)? I too had an 1993 and now have a '05 V8 Sport. Loved the '93, so much character, but driveability of the '05 is incredible! Congrats on your step up!

Be aware that if you hit anything even relatively slow those grill guards do more damage than offer protection. They don't look bad but they are just a nice place for fog lights.

Nothing special on the Runner. Limited edition with leather seats, moonroof, luggage rack, cruise, tilt, electric chairs(seats),upgraded cd system, fog/ driving lights. Previous owner spared no expense on the runner but obviously kept it parked in the garage most of the time. Found window price sticker under back seat, runner listed at $38,800 with options. Way overpriced for a 4Runner but Toyota was on a roll during that period. My gain, previous owners loss. Considering current gas prices could be my loss. Next upgrade will be a full set of Husky floor mats. Current tires are BFG 265/70/16 A/T's. Will be replacing them early next year with same size tire but a street version since I won't be doing any off-roading. Looking at a set of BFG Long Trail OWL A/T's.

$13750 cash deal. I always feel I make a tolerable deal at the car dealers but Kelly Blue Book runs it out at $16,600 retail with all my accessories and options. NADA was right at $14,995 and If I remember right Edmunds was around $14,750. Taking into account that I got a $1200 JAOS Custom Bumper guard as part of the deal. I would have never bought the bumper guard but it toughens up the look of the Runner. Only reason I bought it from the dealer was the low mileage and overall condition of the vehicle.
