Hi All,

Looking forward to being apart of this community. I just purchased my first T4R! It is a 1997 limited with 288k miles. I plan to rebuild the 5VZ later down the line but want to enjoy it a little beforehand.

I am little confused BC the VIN states that its 4x4 but there isn't a transfer case shifter. The VIN is JT3HN87RXV0112503. I am wondering if the previous owner installed a RWD shifter or something but I'll see if the tranny is 4x4 when I get home.

lol. auto auction sold me a RWD and advertised it as 4x4. Going to return it (if thats an option). we'll see what happens.. If not, I'll file a complaint with the NAAA.

So at this auction, you didnt get to see it first? We're you remote? I cant imagine buing site unseen unless it was some crazy collector car with a billion pictures. Live and learn I guess. Sorry to hear it.

Update on this: After a few days of negotiating with the auction and threatening to report them to the NAAA (National Auto Auctions Association) they ended up giving me a 50% discount on the whole ordeal. So I am happy. I'm gonna keep this RWD beauty as a daily. Can't wait to get new tires and suspension. The original rim for the front left is still in the trunk.

Wow. 50% discount is huge. I once had a similar event happen to me a long time ago when I was in Europe I had my folks go ahead and purchase me a 1995 Pathfinder LE. They sent pics and it had BFG A/T's and until 1995 all LE's were 4WD so I utterly assumed that was the case.

Fast forward getting home and having the unmitigated horror of there not being a transfer case and worse the car had sit my folks house for a month while I was away. I got lucky and an elderly lady t-boned it a few months after purchase.

I just got mine this past weekend. Same color and same year. You have me beat by 24k miles though. Would love to see the direction you go with it. Im needing some ideas for
My own.
