Runs and drives, needs a radiator, battery, little body work and new bumpers. I weld, and plan on doing everything myself. Going to be a pretty much total teardown. Looking for experience through doing...... I also have a 4th gen with a toytec ultimate kit I just put on. Very excited for this new project!

That's actually a good deal. I have bad luck with rock auto usually. Everything I need is always a lot to ship. I may go with that part.

Ive bought a lot of parts from them.... Its always been much cheaper than local Napa, O'Reilly, Auto Zone, etc.... (But the shipping can add up on lots of small items if coming from several places.)
I use to always get 10% off.... but guess they cut back to 5% now.

Sweet. I got the fender undone but one bolt I couldn't get to because my welding workbench was in the way. Got the radiator unbolted, battery and a few other pieces out of the way too. This engine is more complicated than I had anticipated.

I need some feedback though, what are you thoughts on removing power steering and cruise control? I want to have a bare bones rig, and free up some space.

I haven't found much on Rockauto that I couldn't get cheaper on Amazon and get free shipping too. I always check Amazon.

You can ditch the cruise control, it's not much good on these trucks at our altitude and with our hills anyway. And huck the AC, it'll give you more space in the engine bay and free up a parasitic loss on the crank pulley. Your top comes off now, you don't need it. I wouldn't pull the power steering though - if you feel like going that route, just pull the belt first and see how you like it. I expect you won't like it at all.

Hey, I was going to pm you last night. You're from utahdesert runners right?

I may need to bribe you to come over and show me some stuff I need to know.

I have a funky schedule, but I'd be happy to come over any time I'm free. You're up in Davis county, right?

Fenders off, windshield cowl off, drivers door panel off. I believe I have a working antenna motor, no antenna on it though. Does anyone want these things? I'm going to just toss it.

Finally got the rear window to roll down. Had to hook the motor right to 12v. Now I can clean out the back and make it ready to be my storage area. My goal is to be able to push this bad boy out of the garage to do my welding projects, and push it back in so the city won't give me a ticket for having an unregistered vehicle. This way all the removed parts will be contained in plastic storage bins in the bed

Id keep the power steering if you plan on running larger tires. (I may be interested in your cruise parts. mine isnt working & I drive on road most of the time)

should be able to pop the rear switch out then take it apart & clean the contacts... put it back together & have it working... pretty easy to do. took me about 3 minutes.

Cool. Is there a way to verify it works without driving and setting it? I've got the car all torn up and it won't be driving for a while

I have three window relays. Could be your problem. I am using a battery on mine. Motorcycle battery is light and handy. I bought one from ebay and it didn't work my window either. Thinking it may not be my relay. Engine getting installed now so not important. I have a totaled 88 if you need something small.

Well, switch wouldn't do anything for it. I noticed the antenna switch however had the same pin layout. Plugged that in and the relay would click. Then found the previous owner had put the wrong bolt in the location with the switch. So even after jumping the leads on that switch, nothing. So I grabbed the battery. I really don't have a problem wiring in a whole new switch to bypass all the crap. Is there a reason I shouldn't?

Yeah I spent quite a bit of time there. That's how I realized the safety switch was in the wrong spot. I didn't see a solution to my problem. Although the only thing left to check or bypass is the rear wiper safety switch.

Slight change of plans. I'm going to throw the new radiator in and drive it for a bit. I'm working on cleaning the engine as well as I can so I might be able to spot problems in the future.

I may do a compression test, I broke a wire off the distributor, going to plasma cut off the rear bumper and figure something out to get the bolts out. Maybe PB blaster over the course of a few weeks.

Time to research the head gasket issue and see what my risk level is. Also needs a timing belt.......

Oh also. An un-ribbed v belt felt out. It was torn in half. I can't see where it went. I'm thinking it may not be from the car?
