My only gripe...

My only gripe with my TE is the fact that the universal garage door buttons do not light up at night. I'm always pressing the wrong one.

Any way to change this?

+1 :iagree:

All the other good features of my 4runner and they couldn't put lighting in them so I can find the buttons in the dark without feeling around?...

I had the same complaint with my Venza also. You would think if Chevy could light theirs in a 2002 Blazer, Toyota could in the new vehicles.

The only way is to do a custom pre-wired LED install tapping off another light in the over head. They are very low power so that wouldn't be a problem.Take the overhead panel off, drill a 3mm hole where you want the light, epoxy the LED in the hole and tap it for power off another overhead light.
Like these 3mm blue ones or whatever color you want. 5 x Pre-Wired 12v 3mm Blue LEDs - PreWired Blue 12v LED - eBay (item 150515249979 end time Dec-03-10 17:30:25 PST)

That's the ONLY way as there is no light there now.

Is there not a way to get a different switch that is backlit? Maybe off of a Lexus or something? Don't know if Lexus' have lighted garage door openers either...

Two others I would like to be lit:
Side mirror adjustment switch
Interior dash dimmer switch

I'm sure if there's a will there's a way. They won't be cheap to buy to find out ,that's for sure. The one I'd like lit is the moonroof switches. Going to put some cheap 3mm LED's in those.

I forgot to mention in the earlier post to be careful with the switches as Toyota switches are expensive. Must be solid gold contacts ,made by an Austrian jeweler, in them or something.

The door window up/down switches list at $220 a piece .....don't ask me how I know. If I remember ,the window multi switch on the drivers door is close to $500. Don't forget and leave your window down in the rain!! They are waterproofed to an extent.
