my paint is going to oxidize! help!

I was washing my car today only to find a quarter size spot of oxidation starting up on my roof.

How do I prevent it from continuing? I'll be damned if I'll end up with this condition of paint:

buff it out, and then put a GOOD wax on it. Other than that try to keep it out of the sun.

not to be the bearer of bad news.. but my truck started out with a little spot of oxidation on the roof. Buffed it out, put wax on it very often, etc. Despite my efforts, it has spread across the majority of my roof behind the sun roof. The rest of the car's paint is 100% perfect.

Roof gets the most sun exposure, so i guess it is the first one to go? i got 150k miles on mine, and im hoping the car will die before oxidation reaches more visible areas...

You'll need a good protection system on it. I recommend Zaino's. It's pricey, but it works damn well.

For your truck I recommend these steps:

1. Wash it with Dawn dish soap (It will remove any old wax if you have any on there). Put it in your kitchen after, and never use it on your truck ever again.

2. Clay bar it. You don't need Zaino's clay bar kit for this. They all work the same, so you can use Mothers, Meguiars, etc.

3. Layer it with a few coats of Zaino's Z-3 infused with their ZFX Flash Cure Accelerator . It makes it shine better, and it allows the product to cure instantly, rather than over night. You'll be able to apply multiple coats right after one another this way.

That, my friend is where bird shit has etched the paint, it actually looks like it has eaten it down to the primer in that one area. Your moms roof on the other hand, It appears that the clear coat has failed. Most base/clear paint jobs are only designed to last about 5-10 years. Ive got the clear flaking off my hood right now, im gonna have it repainted pretty soon.

A clay bar and a buffer don't do the same thing, so buying a buffer won't be useful.

If you use Dawn every time you wash your truck, then your truck has no wax on it. If you get a good coat of wax or protectant on it, then use a good soap such as Mothers, Zaino's, etc and I guarantee your truck will look better.

Dawn soap is used for the sole purpose of stripping off EVERYTHING from your paint.

I just had the whole truck waxed on March 26...

I'm thinking maybe im just stupid and never noticed it...

That bird shit comment sounded about right lol, its about the right size, and hell, I'd have never seen it up there.

I'm still gonna redo the whole thing, but now I think it was bird shit lol.
