So, my 4Runner finally got to play in the mud this weekend for the first time.
Ok, before you get all excited, it was only a camping trip, I wasn't doing the Rubicon or anything like that.
Nevertheless, it was very gratifying to see the truck all muddy and dirty. It was raining all day Saturday, so the whole area was a mess. Still, the 4Runner seemed to be in its element. By the time the weekend was over, mud was caked all over the wheels, running boards, and cladding.
When I saw the truck sitting like that in the woods next to the lean-to, all mucked up, it just looked right. You know what I mean? (I was also especially glad I had the all weather mats in place.)
I asked my six year old daughter if she thought the 4Runner seemed like it belonged there, and she replied that it looked like the truck was smiling (kids . . .)!
Funny thing, though. Once I got it back home to the 'burbs and got it washed, I really liked how it looked all sparkly clean.
I guess its all a matter of context! ;-)
