My Satoshi Mod

lol, yeah gotta love mother nature, and of course it would only happen after i do this. Ok so i fixed the grille, looks like the bird just popped the bolts i had in there holding the mesh on, so i redesigned that one and fixed it, and now i have the emblem on. Thanks for all the replie, and yes it usually is a pre 99 mod, but i just said the heck with it, it was already starting to peel so i said if i mess it up, im gonna have to buy a new one anyhow, and i am really glad i did it, hope that give everyone with the 99 some insperation.

That looks sick bro....

What did you use for the mesh?
What did the FJ Emblem cost you?

The emblem usually runs around $30-45 online, check ebay.

Voodoo, what size/thread of bolt did you use on the emblem? I couldn't seem to get any to fit right.

hey thanks guys, i used a coping saw, dremel with cut off wheel, and sanding bit, i used a piece of fencing from my local hardware store, turned it so it would look diagonal and then fit it, the emblem, ebay it was around 36 with shipping, stay tuned though about to get a little bit more inventive.

In case anyone wanted to know what it looks like with the Round Toyota logo....

awesome idea, actually i plan on adding one on, but i want to do it on the lower valance that i just did, satoshi part 2, i figured that something just didnt look right so i went ahead and did the mesh to the bottom piece too, to match the grille, thanks for the idea, and the reply

hey that looks way sick!!! as far a painting it goes, did you just get some silver spray paint from a local hard ware store? looks to match your paint pretty good, i think ill have a hard time finding matching spray paint to do mine

Looks awesome dude, i did this on my 99 a couple of months ago but not as clean. I painted it black and stuck some lights in it. what paint did you use for the silver?

yeah i loved the way the paint matched perfectly, wanted to keep the chrome but glad i didnt, it was dupli color exact match paint, code 1C0, part number BTY1613. Oh and keep posted have a new front valance mod in the winds, just as soon as i find some barried parts in the garage, thanks for all the replies too, really glad you guys like it, hoped i have inspired some ideas.

Just finished my Satoshi Grill Mod

First big thanks to all the folks that put together how to's from here, tacoma world, yotatech etc. I borrowed something from lots of different threads.

Finally finished my Satoshi grill mod. Took me a longtime, I’m pretty happy with the end result. Definitely learned some tricks for the next time, been a while since I worked with fiberglass, body filler or glazing putty. Got some pretty fine mesh that was already powder coated black off of ebay.

Much thicker than the “hardware cloth” mesh I’ve seen some use. Wrapped the edge of the mesh with door edge guard, and attached it to the frame w/safety wire that I painted black to hide it a little more. For mounting the emblem I drilled two holes in the mesh, cut a piece of alum plate I had laying around (painted it black to blend it), then used nylon washers, metal washers then the stock bolts to a fix them. I found with the alum piece I could bend it to create a better ark and push the ends out.

I was worried I’d still be able to see the red paint from the hella super tones in the grill but it hides it pretty well.
