After much thinking (and targeted ads lol) I had some time on Sunday to give Poppy's Patina a try on my terribly flaking clear coat.
I did a sh!tty job on the application but I am very happy with how it turned out. You can definitely still see where the old clear coat flaked off, and the streaks and drips from my poor skills, but from 10 feet away at least it looks like a normal paint job now, and not an embarrassing beater car
Spent about 2 hours cleaning and wet sanding, an hour masking off each area and degreasing, and the actual clear coat application took less than an hour. So 4 hours total and less than $200.
If your clear coat is flaking and unsightly, but you don't care enough to pay a shop to respray it, I would recommend this kit. If you are experienced with sanding paint, you could do a better job with that. All I used were the included scuff pads. I may eventually scuff and apply a 2nd coat to the hood to hide my crap job, but for now it's good enough.
