My somewhat new to me 2006 4Runner

Late last summer I decided to change vehicles as I needed more storage and flexibility than the Lexus ISF I had been driving for the previous 5 years. As luck would have it my neighbor was in need of a vehicle, as he had totaled his '87 560 SEL Benz and he wanted my car. I sold him my car and started looking for a 4Runner. I had never owned a 4Runner, but always liked them. I had owned an early 70's, and a mid-80's Land Cruiser in the past.

I wanted a low mileage, clean, fairly rust free 4th gen 4Runner. Finally after about two months I found one in the northern Virginia area, about an hour and a half from home. I went to look at it the day after it was listed by a Toyota dealership. Very clean, Silver (which was my preference), new tires, 82k miles, two owners, new CV axles, no rust anywhere. Bought it on the then and there. While I was purchasing two other people came in to buy it. So I sold my 2006 Lexus with 82k miles, and bought a 2006 4Runner with 82k miles.

The first thing I did was to replace the gear oil in the differentials and transfer case. Besides having to replace the alternator I haven't done much else yet. But, my gearhead 16 year old son has several projects in mind for us. I did replace the terrible lights with LED's, back-up, low, high, fog. So far so good.

I feel really lucky to have found what I was looking for in this good shape. I am pretty sure it was garage kept much of its life. Much as my Lexus ISF was.

I appreciate the contributions of the members of this forum. I have found the information here to be very helpful, even if I haven't commented very often.

I also based my purchase of new lights on input and experience of members here. Good forums can be invaluable to owners of particular types of vehicles. I found the same for my former car, the Lexus ISF.

I am thankful all the time for the internet and those who have taken the initiative to build these communities.

Most of us came here to either get help and or learn about our T4Rs, and many after finding what they seek stay around to help others when they can, if you and others do the same we all will be helping to keep this forum around for many, many years to come and keeping T4Rs on the road indefinitely!

Question about trd rims

Sorry if this is not the right forum I am new to the forums and I was just wondering if my current tires I have on my 4 runner will fit on new trd rims so basically just trying to use the same tires and just putting them on the trd rims. The reason why I am not getting new tires with the rims is because I just bought my 2006 sr5 4 runner and the dealership put new tires on and I am on a budget.
My tire size now is just the stock size 265's.

That being said, you should have looked a bit more and posted your question in the "Sticky" topic... "Lift and Tire Central" , instead of highjacking someone's build topic!!

Now that all being said, you're really not giving enough info for anyone to factually answer your question, i.e. the complete size of your tires...just 265 is not telling us the complete size of your tires...like are they 16", 17", 18" tires, now the best I can do is say if your new wheels are say 16" and your tires are 16" then yes they will fit, if either aren't the same diameter then no they won't fit.

Not sure how you're trying to post them, what I did was click on your link/s and then clicked on the 3 little dots at the bottom right, a drop down menu appears, I clicked on "Embed Post" then a window opens with a embed link above the photo and a copy icon to the right of the link, I clicked on copy and then pasted the link in my post, rather easy, sorta surprised.

Just an FYI, I tried first with just one photo, seeing that it worked I copied the other link and edited my post and pasted that link....but when I submitted it after the edit neither photo was in my post, so I deleted that post and did the one above and made sure I added both links making sure to have a good space in between the embed links so the links aren't touching and that worked well.

Overall this is definitely my favorite vehicle I've owned in the last twenty years.

I did like my Lexus ISF, but it wasn't really me. I likely a utilitarian vehicle that I can carry my gear in to go hunting and shooting, which often requires going off the beaten path. For quite a few years I worked for an org that paid for my vehicle that accomplished that for me, for work. I grew up with trucks and 4x4's on our property. I also owned three 60's Mustangs back in the late 80's and early 90's, and several other 80's crap from the time.

I am just a truck based guy at the end of the day and I'll take this 4Runner over a much faster, fancier car that I guess I could afford. I will say though it is ironic that I sold my 2006 Lexus ISF with 82k on it and bought this 4Runner with 82k for essentially the same price. When new the Lexus cost a lot more. Trucks, and truck based SUV's, hold their value.

This is exactly what I was looking for, it is clean inside and out and out, low mileage, well kept, rust free. I hope it lasts as long as I think it will.

It pretty much stays in a garage now. I drive it from the garage in my home to the garage where I take the Metro (subway) to work every day. I drive it about 9-10 miles a day. Mayeb a bit more on the wekends. A tank of gas lasts a month.
