06 sport V8. Went to lower my spare for some room for exhaust work. Wouldn't budge. Been lubing it up for a couple of days. It seems like the square drive area is rounded out. So, I let the air out of the tire. Cut off the tang on the support plate (plate with the spring). Used a couple of pry bars, and worked the support plate to an angle where it slipped through the wheel, and the spare dropped down. After I get my exhaust back together, I will take a look at the situation with the spare tire mechanism. Probably need a new one. Anyway, just thought I would pass on my experience. Cheers.
