My summer maintenance.

I am planning to do the following in about 2-3 weeks.

New radiator and toyota red coolant + deionized water
Valve cover gaskets, and spark plug tube seals
TOYOTA OEM spark plugs (getting rid of about 8000 miles NGK spark plug wires)
Fan bracket
Also installing a transmission cooler (from a ford escape 2001 - 2007) in the lower valence opening

What else is good to do while I am there?
(new drive belts/fan clutch/PCV valve/Spark plugs)

Why are you getting rid of the wires, why the new fan bracket, and why are you using an escape trans cooler instead of one of the aftermarket ones everyone recommends? I'd swap the Toyota coolant for regular old green stuff as it's more readily available in an emergency, cheaper, and lasts nearly as long.

And absolutely do those other things you listed at the bottom. Those make more sense than the other things I questioned.

I like the sumitomo OEM parts. NGK is fine but I want to keep it as factory as it can.

When I am installing the fan clutch/belts I spun the fan bracket bearing to check its condition, and it turned many rounds without stopping. This is a good indication of a worn-out bearing. So before things get worst I plan to get it replaced.

I plan not to put any cooler in front of the AC condenser. The lower valence seems ideal to mount an oil cooler because it is not directly obstructing the radiator fan's air pull path. The escape's cooler fits perfectly into the lower valence opening.

I have a trans cooler and it is Hayden 4X8 inches or so. On a hot summer day when outside is 100 F, the trans input line is about 162 F.

I thought toyota coolant is red only. Well.... thanks for letting me know about the green coolant.

Buy some feeler gauges and check the valve clearances.

Pull the semi circular plugs and reseal them. Don't forget the cam seal plugs. Might as well do an OEM PCV and PCV grommet.

I'd would personally only use the Toyota coolant or the Zerex Aisin. New OEM cap, T-stat and upper/lower hoses if they haven't been changed in a decade.

I have a feeler gauge and what is the clearance for inlet and exhaust? to adjust do I need to insert shims?

I think there are 4 semi-circular plugs and yes I am going to apply toyota FIPG on those to mount it back on to the cylinder head and then a thin layer on the top surface where the gasket sits.

Do I have to apply FIPG on the two cam seal plugs as well?

I saw Zerex is not Aisin but ASIAN. So I am not confident using it.
PCV valve/grommet/T-stat/hoses are relatively new.
