Great 2nd Gen system

I've got:
4 inch Alpine Type Rs in the front (biggest that would fit without cutting)
6 1/2 inch component Alpine Type Rs in the back (again, biggest that would fit) Had to cut out the stock amps for the back speakers and customize the boxes
JVC MP3 Compatible headunit

I just bought myself a:
Sony 600W amp
10 inch P2 sub

For all those second gens looking for a good system, damn it sounds good.
Total Cost: 850

To save money on this you could go with the Type S speakers and another sub, but I'd recommend my setup for any audiophiles out there. I feel like going out to my car to listen to music now. I'll post pics if anyones curious.

pics are always great sounds like a great system.. i might look more into those alpine type r speakers.. do you think they need an amp to sound great? i know an amp, if installed correctly, would add to the sound; but i'm not looking at installing an amp, so i'm curious how you like them unamped..

First my response, then pics. I actually am really glad I didn't buy an amp for my speakers. Before today without the sub, I couldn't turn it up much cause they were small speakers. The front 4 inchers were basically all highs and some mids and the back were all highs and mids. I had no low sound basically. If I cranked it at all I got distortion. I started thinking I might need an amp to boost my sound. Today I got the one sub and the sub amp and transfered all the lows to my sub. Now I can literally make the cars around me listen to my music although I don't want to nor is it the purpose of this setup. Alpine Type Rs are REAL clean, and with this setup with the sub getting the bass, I can pump it up to where we couldn't hear each other while riding in the car and no distortion at all. I can't see what an amp could do unless I was trying to get good sound for the surrounding three blocks. I guess it just depends on what you want out of your speakers. I needed something to shake when I played some dre, eminem, big pun or tupac, but a real clean sound when listening to eric clapton, miles davis, dave matthews, sublime or incubus. I'm real happy with what I did, and if you happen to know how to install all this which i didn't you can get some great deals on ebay or even buying packages from alpine.

thanks for the response/review. i'm now adding the type r's to my list of possibilities.

the reason i amplfied the speakers in my accord were to get a clearer, crisper sound. it seems like i don't need to do that with the type r's.
