My T4R Recall tomorrow and TRD Supercharger

I have an appt tomorrow for my floor mat recall at Toyota dealer on Long Island NY. I am kinda hmmm worried about what they will do. I am going to ask the tech whats he going to do BEFORE he does anything. I do alot of the work on her and I dont want someone Fing around my baby.

Now I just watched a youtube of a TRD supercharger in action HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIII****** I WANT ONE. In the next few months, I was thinking of swithing to a V8 but it would have to be used as the new T4R only have a V6 but after seeing that video I'll add the SC to my V6 with 60K on it and she'll feel NEW AGAIN! Besides cost $3000-$4000, anyone have an idea about labor if I wanted someone else to install and what other parts I need- a EMS?(Engine Management System), do I definitely need a new exhaust-I have a stock one now.

Well if you want to do the TRD supercharger get the FJ fit kit. As for tuning the X1 is out of the question since its no longer being made. Look into a Haltech or a pro efi 48. You will have to work on tuning WITHOUT the TRD reflash as they never released it for the 4runner. Tuning for the injectors and boost isn't hard. I'm not so sure on labor but hey if you buy me one I'll do yours for free! No dealer will install it for you.

I don't think the haltech or pro efi would work with the toyota. who/how would you wire it up?

I have heard some people say that they are getting new floor mats from the recall but my notice stated that they were going to "modify" the gas pedal (AKA shorten it).

I don't want their shabby mats, nor will I ever let them cut my pedal.

Well got the recall done and YEP IT SUCKS! They cut the gas pedal. Literally looks like someone took a grinder or sawzall and kinda clean cut the bottom of the pedal in a kinda V shape. I gotta take a pic and post it. My floor mats are still the same- I bought OEM floor mats with hooks. I have to buy another gas pedal cause its tiny now-like its from a peewee go kart- its about the stupidest fix I've ever seen but I guess for toyota it solves the recall for the US Govt and the compaliners of the rogue runaway car. Now I gotta search where I can find a new steel or TRD gas pedal to make it look better- at least the recall forces me to buy it!

I had mine done awhile back and they didn't clean up the edge where they ground the pedal off and I was having trouble sliding my shoe across the pedal. I called dealer and they said they had a replacement pedal and orded it - so I will get that installed on Thursday. I was able to take a rasp and fix the existing pedal so no real problem now but will go ahead with new pedal and report back when I see what the difference is. I know the weathertech mats are ok with toyota because I was able to get from dealer.

They just take a grinder and grind down some of the pedal. I have 45 degree angles on the bottom corners of the gas pedal, no big deal, you will not even notice it.

If you dont like the cut pedal just have the dealer get you a replacement pedal. Same length as the cut pedal but looks much better.

How much did they take off the pedal that your shoe gets caught on it, maybe they took too much off? The recall on mine was just all the way at the bottom of the pedal, which I don't even think my foot touches. It went from a 90 degree to a 45 on the bottom corners. Do you have super small feet or something? The only reason I ask is because my pedal had a rougher edge on it visually but I don't even notice they did anything when driving. And if you are sliding your foot across the pedal isn't the brake right or center console right there?

I had mine done last month, even before I received the recall in the mail. Maybe they didn't take as much off mine? Either way I am fine with it because I can't tell a difference whether I am wearing dress shoes or my hunting boots.

They took about 3/8" off - the tech just didn't grind the edge to complete the trip and there was a rolled edge to the rubber that was hard from the grinding. A little work with a rasp on the edge took care of that and I find no difference now in the feel of the petal. Mine has carpet mats that are new but I have ordered the windowtech ones from dealer - they had a 15% off offer. I will take a picture of it now and then of the new petal when they install it on Thursday.

The new petal appears to be at the same length relative to floor as the trimmed petal. But surface area of the pad on the new petal looks longer.

I've got husky liners and my oem pedal does not get close to the mat so I'm going to leave my stocker on there.

I like the feel of the new petal and do believe it has a longer surface area than the modified one.
