my toyota days are over

my days of working with toyota are just about over, i was laid off about a month ago. i worked with toyota for 7 years. i traveled to kentucky and california many times. i didnt design cars but i would work with the finishing touches on them like tires,rims, cabin filters, wipers and batteries. i dealt mostly with fast moving parts. i never worked with the 4runner cause it was made in japan. i worked with the camry,avalon and venza. They were very strict with the products no pictures. the funny thing about it was that you guys (internet auto forums) know more about the product then most people in the companies. dealerships are the last to know cause quite frankly they dont care.
i going to miss toyota the pay wasent great but it was a cool job. it truly sucks to be out of work. This is my first time out of work.

Best of luck to your future endeavors. Sorry hear about the job loss. It's tough out there, but someone told me, when one door closes usually a better one opens up.

About people not knowing anything, they're just there for a paycheck. Sad fact with a lot of employees, no desire to learn their company's product or service. So far, each position I've held, I wanted to learn about it as much possible and how our customers use the product. It only helps me support our product and the end user.

longer with the company.
i interviewed with a few companies nissan and hyundai but its like starting fresh and im forced to take a paycut and i dont know the product.

What was your job description? I don't think I understand what you did with Toyota.

BMW and VW have big US operations, don't forget them as you look forward.

:iagree: with Mike. I took $25K paycut last year (in addition to the expense account), spruced up resume and started looking again.

Jobs out there may not be what you want to do, or the companies that you want to work for, but, considering that you have certain obligations, you may have to look the other way. As far as not knowing the products... You did not know jack about Toyotas at one point in the past as well...

Sorry to hear about you losing your job. I agree with the others: Take the job you can get-even with the pay cut for now. Your family will appreciate it and it keeps you "in the game." You can focus your goal on getting the good job again when the time is right. Good luck!

What was your job description? I don't think I understand what you did with Toyota.

I was a toyota rep for parts. I worked with fast moving parts and directly with dealers. I was responsible for tires, brakes, oil filters, cabin filters, air filters, rims, batteries and wiper blades but they had to be mass quantity.

I came down to the conclusion that i will take what i can get. lets keep our fingers cross.

i do think you guys no more about toyota products then most toyota employees.

Sometimes you must take a step backward before you can go forward again! Just get re-employed...take care of 'la famiglia' and everything will fall into place. You were dealt some lemons...so now go out and make some lemonade!

the only reason to work for toyota these days is because all 3 of my cars
are toyota, my father and in-laws drive toyota. I never paid for anything.
at one point my entire family drove toyota in fact i was constantly busy with oil changes and brakes that i installed a lift in my garage and everyone chip in and bought me a snap on box.
i have taken every test toyota has given for parts and was working on service. Toyota considers me a certified parts master and a B mechanic and a certified service writer.
So as everyone can see i devoted my entire life to this ****ing company just to get the ax (just venting).

my department has nothing to do with recalls. Im so far from the issue i might as well be in another company. In fact i am very displeased about how toyota is going about this recall and economics in genral. They have been downsizing by laying off high paid educated employees and hire underpaid ignorant people. I was one of the last to go. Everyone around me worked for gm, crysler or fresh out of school.
