My truck is de-badging itself

My letters on the side " Sport Edition 4wd" letter's are pretty loose. Loose enought to pop the "I" off . Lucky I have some 3m adh. tape and re attached it , but I could see going through a carwash these thing's coming off. None of mine seem to be on very solid. I can wiggle all of them around.

Can you wiggle your letter's around or are they on tight and solid.

Mine move a little, like there's play in an adhesive pad on the back of the letter. The adhesive isn't moving on the metal at all... it's more of a springy feeling to them. They don't seem loose enough to fall off imminently, but I agree that the fact that they move at all would make me wonder about the car wash.

exactly what happen when i ws doing my car wash. letter "I" in the "TION" then i noticed most of the letters a bit loose. but not enough to fall off by itself.

make long story short, i debadged my truck.

my letters were getting loose also. W/ 28k miles I was worried about any type of fading if I debadged my rig but when I did it looked great w/ no type of discoloration.

Thought about debadging , but my truck is leased and I kind of like the "Sport Edition 4WD" chrome letter's on the on the Galatic Gray. If they start coming off I'll de-badge.

Haha, that what I thought originally also. Probably cuz I went from a 2wd v6 to a v8 4wd SE so I wanted everyone to know (stupid, i k know!). Then that idea got old and while I was zaino'ing my rig yesterday and decided to rip em off. Its soo much easier to wax. I also have galatic gray. Either way the GG 4runner look sweet w/ or without lettering.

id rather have the letter come handy, (debadged) than sooner or later finding out that one of your letter is missing (fell off). am not encouraging you to debadge but they (debadged look) clean looking. :biggrin2:

I fixed the one letter and have not had a problem since. I do check them for the security when cleaning and waxing.

I like to keep the letters . I think the "Sport Edition 4WD" looks good on my GG color on the door.
