I meant to post this earlier. Not sure if of interest but I figured somebody might find it useful. Its my "made in 10 minutes so I can finish the job while I still have light" solution to tightening my axle nuts (with the brake calipers off of course) during my wheel bearing change a couple months ago. Used hole saws and a very rough estimation of hole placement. I saw where some have braced the studs with a prybar (this method is shown in the Haynes book), but I didn't have one long enough and I didn't want to jack up the threads (which would be my luck). This ugly thing worked like a charm. Perfectly torqued axle nut. Hope it helps someone out sometime...
