My V8 and gas

I very happy with my v8 and it's milage.....yeh it wouldn be great if it 25 mpg but I did'nt buy it for milage anyway. I even get better than the sticker said I would with a lead foot & bigger tire's....lol

I just love driving it so much and I drive alot for work and such I use 2 full tank's per week. It would be nice to have a bigger tank .

I couldn't agree more, I love the V-8 as well. I don't use as much gas each week as you do though.

After 1,500 miles I'm averaging 17.0 mpg. The govt. mileage estimates are 16-18 for the V-8 4X4, and I'm hitting dead center of that range. I feel confident the mileage will improve once the engine gets broke-in, and I've already gotten over 19 mpg for sustained highway driving.

Fortunately, I live 1/2 mile from work, so my commute is short. Unfortunately, that kills my fuel economy. On average for a tank, with some occasional freeway driving, I get around 12-15 mpg. I suppose this could improve after the engine breaks in, as I only have about 3200 miles on it so far. That, or having the Borla exhaust decreases the mileage (or my driving habits just to hear it rumble!).

I have the same problem. After my first week of just mainly driving to work, I was only seeing about 13.x. The past weekend or two, though, I have gotten on the interstate and done some little 30-40 mile drives and have seen my mileage hang around 15.x.

I'm taking a 300+ mile trip next week, and I hope to see the mileage get closer to 19 on that trip.

By the way, I only have about 300-400 miles on mine, so it's still got plenty of breaking in to do.

I get better gas mileage in my V8 than a friend of mine gets in her 04 V6 Envoy, and hers is only part time 4WD

I wonder if there's much of a difference in fuel economy between the early V8 4Runners (03/04) and the later ones (05/06) with the higher horsepower rating.

You live 1/2 mile from work and you're complaining about your fuel economy?? Are you serious? If you only used your 4Runner to drive to work and back, a full tank would probably last more than 6 months (probably closer to a year, based on a one-mile round trip getting 15 mpg. 15 miles x 23 gallons)
