Ouch! Is that an issue with the 4.7?

It is indeed. It's one of the Achilles' heels of the 4.7.

There are spotty reports of them being warranteed, but I'm not holding my breath so i'm looking for an aftermarket solution right now. There seems to finally be an option or two.

I reallly wanted a set of long tubes for mine but apparently they ddon't exist. Looks like pacesetter makes some to replace oem and they are decently priced on amazon.

Yep. Depending on your year it may be easier than others. Mine is a 2008 and has air injection which means it's a pain to do without causing a check engine light, but I think I found a guy who can do it. I'm sick of it. I'ts embarassing to drive with.

I couldn't live without my magnaflow

I installed a Magnaflow 16" removed the resonator and a custom race pipe slides out the side right behind the mud flap.
It sounds pretty beefy. Not very much drone.

Magnaflow fan here! I love the side exit and wonder why anyone who uses the back window to load/unload would not craft a side exit.....

The exhaust does get louder with age, and on the rare times I let the wife drive the passenger side is a bit louder than the drivers seat!

...and ofcourse the stockheaderfold is ticking and it sounds like shit

still debating on muffler or just hacking the resonator off and adding a rerouting. Don't want too much beef, but a little more wouldn't kill.

Recommendations?

There's lots of videos of exhaust, but no simple resonator removal and rerouted pipe.

Two weeks ago I installed the Gibson SS catback exhaust and promptly got tired of the famous drone. So, today the muffler shop installed the oem resonator tail pipe, simply replaced the Gibson tail pipe unit with the oem resonator tailpipe. Now, there's a very subtle burbling sound that I like and enjoy.

Drone is very subjective and when I was in my 20's, having a set of Flowmaster on my 5.0 Mustang GT was totally awesome. But now, I enjoy a quiet exhaust with just a hint of a V8 under the hood.

I'll make a video of the new setup this week and put them both up on YouTube.

That'd be great. You left the rest of the Gibson on there and just added back the resonator and OE tailpipe?

I really want to move to a side exit, but really curious how yours will sound! Thanks.

Another exhaust option is the muffler from DirtyDeeds. Very happy with that. NO drone.
