Mysterious click from rear wheel at exactly 18 mph.

This has been happening for some months now. I get a click sound (not extremely loud) coming from I believe the passenger rear wheel when decelerating to a stop. I thought brakes at first but I've even let it slowly decelerate with no brake pedal at all and it still clicks at 18mph. Kind of has me baffled and annoyed. Haven't pulled a wheel yet but looking around underneath nothing looks abnormal. Any guesses? Not really loud but varies in volume randomly and starting to make me nuts. Thanks.

Hmm can you jack up the rear and speed the wheels ?

I haven't but I can. Maybe in neutral? It doesn't do it in reverse or accelerating. It's the weirdest thing. I'm only guessing it's in the rear brakes or hand brake linkage but IDK. The hand brake works marvelously by the way, and is silent and smooth as silk!

Pull off the drum and see if anything is loose inside there... Maybe a bit of hardware that 'falls' at 18mph from being held around the circumference of the drum.

I get a clunk at 18mph decelerating only if the overdrive is engaged, if its off it won't do it... I assumed it was the torque converter unlocking but who knows...

Edit: on some Scion forums they found it was related to control arm bolts being loose and/or trans down shifting to 1st to assist with braking...

Thanks for the replies! I'm leaning towards it being some kind of brake hardware in the right rear wheel. Only because it's not a thunk but more like a click, like smaller metal parts are involved. will take that wheel and drum off soon to have a look-see. I'll report back for anyone that might be interested.
