Mysterious connector? 2008 Limited

Anybody knows what is this black connector with a green button for?

I looked through the manual and no reference to it.
It looks like it was added on.

It's not factory, its an add on.

What it is I hav eno clue. Maybe one of the GPS trackers that parents can download data from?

Seriously though, I think it could be for an aftermarket alarm system (maybe a valet option?) or judging by the connector, it might be an after-market computer and/or chip connector. Whatever it is, it definitely looks after-market and most likely did not come from the dealer that way.

my geuss is that it was installed at the dealership for that box on the windows, that silver box holds the car keys for that vehicle, and has a remote for the sales staff..
If you bought the vehicle at a dealer, Id ask them.

And how does it work? I know they wanted to sell me some Alarm activation when I bought it, I didn't as the truck already has an alarm.

What's the anti-theft for and how can I test if it's activated or not?

If you have a separate alarm, then the dealer installed one is definitely not working. They de-activate them when you don't pay to activate it. Its usually a small jumper across the terminals on the connector shown. If you pay for it, they have someone activate it for the end user.

I'm fairly certain its for the dealer to use in the interest of keeping insurance premiums low on the vehicles they have sitting on the lot. A stolen car isn't something a dealer wants to worry about. So they install these cheap alarms, and if you pay to activate it, they get some cash. If not, the money they save from insurance probably pays for the unit itself.

well, the truck has the alarm from stock OEM, so I wonder why they would add it... I may have to go to the dealer to figure it out :-(

Yes--it's a dealer installed alarm. I have one in mine and would have to pay about $300 for the alarm if I wanted it. I didn't, but haven't taken the connection out. I'll just live with it for a while

They did ask if I wanted the alarm activated and refused.

I went and tried it, I lock myself in the car, wait a while for the little key on the center dash to blink and then open the door and sure enough the alarm will go off.
Also when I lock the car, the blinker blink once and the car beeps - I am guessing engaging the alarm.


Does yours do this?

Maybe you could try it?
An alternative check is open a window, lock the car and open the door from the inside. It will trigger my alarm as well.

To stop it, turn the contact on, or open the door using the key or remote access
