mysterious Red toggle switch next to gas-door release

i just noticed this switch with a red rubber cover right below the fuel door release. it reads on and off. what does it do? i think it might be a valet switch but im not sure.

I have a similar "mystery" switch in my 91 right infront of the auto/4x4 shifters under the radio console. What it does, I have no clue.....no fog lights, no subs....really no accessories that it might run....I too am baffled.

I would say it is most likely a valet switch for either an alarm or remote starter. You should be able to trace the wires under the dash panel to a small black box that doesn't look like it should belong there.

its probably ur shift override switch, its so u can put the automatic in neutral even without turning it on or pressing the brake pedal, it makes it pretty easy to steal these trucks so one day i took the shifter apart and when i put it back together the button didnt work anymore, i like it that way though, otherwise someone could just bust into ur truck at night and roll it away without makin a sound, pretty scary huh?
