Mystery Cable - '06 DVD/NAV

I have a 2006 Limited with the in-dash 4-cd DVD/NAV unit. I purchased a Dice Ipod intergration box for my Ipod (DUH).

The folks at Dice told me that with the y-connector cable I can use the Ipod unit and factory Sirius - they both plug into the same connector on the back of the HU.

I pulled the HU and to my surprise there was already a y-cable with the Sirius unit plugged into it and another cable that went into the bowels of the dash.

I attempted to hook up the Dice unit anyway since they provide a y-cable with the unit. So I plugged the existing y-cable with Sirius and mystery cable into the new y-cable, as well as the Ipod adapter cable. So at this point I have two y-cables hooked together with the IPod cable, Sirius cable, and mystery cable. Of course, it doesn't work. If I pull the mystery cable and just plug in the Sirius and Ipod cables all is fine.

I don't have the RSE, so does anyone have any idea what the mystery cable is for? Is it a pre-installed cable for RSE? If so, can I leave it unplugged? Or is it something else?

Yeah, I installed the sirius receiver into my Nav screen and I THINK that the "mystery" cable that you're talking about might very likely go to the amp. I am interested in getting the Lockpick that ScottyDog posted a thread about and emailed the manufacturer to see if the Sirius would cause a conflict with their product since I already have the y-connector on the same plug that you're talking about. A rep. emailed me back saying that it won't, but I think that is just their generic response to anyone who is looking to purchase something from them; just like Dice probably did with you when they said that the y-connector for the Sirius wouldn't be an issue with their interface.

Let me know if Dice figures anything out with regards to your problem because I think i'm going to have the same one.

I'll let you know if I find any info on what that plug is actually used for.

John,

I spoke with 3 different folk at my local Toytota dealer ("extremely knowledgable" salesguy, service mgr, parts guy)

All three agreed that the "mystery" cable is more than likely a pre-run cable for the rear seat entertainment and that I should be able to disconnect it without any issues.

I'll find out this weekend when I attempt my install again with the Dice unit...
