Naming your 4Runner/Rig

Betty

Kid named our “New” 2000 SR5 Betty after Betty White, old Grey and wont die. She just keeps on ticking over. I think it’s a great name.

I named my old squarebody Chevy after its previous owner- a legendary ginger deputy sheriff.

Jimmy Dale. Raisin' hell since 76'.

As far as the four-runner, we just refer to it as "the tank" because the thing is a beast.

naming

Mine is nautical blue metallic so I kinda settled on Dreadnaut. But I'm still a bit torn since it's way too aggressive a name and I don't want people to feel 'dread' when they see it. Unless it hasn't had a wash for months or something valid like that.

And of course this is a name that I call it in my own head.

"Fez" (Fes, Foreign Exchange Student, "that 70's show).
It's our only foriegn car. 4runner/foriegner.
The others are Dodge, Jeep, Ford.

The Blue Ox

I would kind-of prefer The Blue Torpedo, but that was the name of my high school buddy's Volvo station wagon that had no second gear. Or The Blue Banana, but that's too close to the Big Banana from Matt's Off Road Recovery and in any case the family vetoed that one.

Favorite car names of the past:
- The Deathmobile - old friend's parent's beat-to-hell white Oldsmobile Cutlass Sierra station wagon (homage to the car from Animal House).
- Monty - another buddy's late 80's Monte Carlo with abundant brown rust coloration.

Never have named a vehicle o' mine. Maybe it's time...

As it's beige ("Driftwood Pearl") and black, maybe my forum name - Wild Thing.

Or given where I live, maybe Sasquatch - or as the locals shorten it, "Squatch."

But that sounds like somethin' I do in the woods with TP and a shovel.
