Napolean Complex - Lift Effect on Total Vehicle Height

Hey All,

New to the site and looking for some help in understanding total vehicle height after doing a lift on a '99 Limted 4WD. Although I did see a poll about whether or not member rigs fit in the garage I'm not finding this specific info in the 3rd Gen stickies or via the search function. If I've missed it please point me in the right direction.

Due to the parking structure where I live there's a 6'10" height restriction and parking on the street isn't an option. I would like to do a mild lift for more of a back-country setup (no intentional rock crawling but definitely playing in some decent mud, crossing mild streams...etc) and would like your thoughts on a solid setup that wouldn't trip the 6'10" mark.

I have found some some sources stating in stock form the vehicle height is 68.7 inches; does that sound right? Seems pretty short to me but I'd like your experience with how much your lifts have effected the overall vehicle height.

With a 3" lift on 33's you will be way under 6'10". I'm on 35's and my truck is about 6'8"... maybe less I can't remember. My garage is 7ft and I have 6" of space between my 4runner's roof and my garage.

Thanks, that helps as a point of reference. I was reading some of these setups (that seem mild) with guys saying they are in the 7' plus range and I'm wondering to myself how they're achieving that.

I'm 6'3" and I'm not sure I would want to try and crawl into something that tall.

Maybe because they have roof racks? 1 sec I'm gonna go remeasure mine for you.

Including the stock roof rack... I was saying some people probably have higher measurements due to an aftermarket roof rack and/or a body lift.

That's perfect, I wanted to put a short basket (not sure what they are really called) but there should be plenty of room.

With my lift combination basically the Sonoran Steel 1.2 kit or the Toytec Ultimate with 285/75 16 Nitto Terra Grapplers and a Baja Rack basket I was about 6'9. I know because the local car wash measured to make sure it would fit before letting me go through. If you add a body lift then you will be close or over with a roof basket.

Thanks, that's helpful too considering I'm not sure what type of roof rack/basket setup I want to go with just yet. I don't really need extreme flex, since I'm not much into rock crawling, and wanted to avoid needing a body lift with the suspension setup I chose.
