Nasty Noise on hard turns

Yes, I too have experience the noise, but unfortunately do not know what it is.

i've had the same problem, went to take it to dealership, they said it was the pinion steering, the guy said he put grease on something (?) and now it doesnt make the noise anymore!! I'll find out if you really need 2 know!

I plan on taking my truck into the dealer for its 10k checkup and i was going to bring up the noise. I know dealers will usually blow you off if they think you dont know what youre talking about so i wanted to go in with some good theories. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I sometimes hear a loud noise, possibly in the left front tire area, when I make a hard u-turn. Almost sounds like I hit a big rock or something. I've heard it a few times, I think everytime has been pulling a u-turn, so it is when turning left.

ding ding ding.. I have the same problem.. I thought it was a clicking... only when I drive right out of my parking garage.... dog gone it.. I'm going to get grease and grease that monkey up..

I'll have the dealer check it out at my next service appointment...luckily, I get free oil change and car wash for life with my dealer. Is this common with Toyota dealerships? Has anyone else received similar service?

My dealer provides a car wash once a week, and one free oil change a year. The car wash is not that great.

The best is the free airport shuttle service. You park your car in the service area and get a shuttle to the airport. You return to a washed car.

I see KOZ already posted a link to my previous response. The grease should stop the noise. Just wipe it clean each time you change your oil and apply a small amount of clean grease.

I think Koz may have hit the nail on the head. I had this same problem with my other 4Runners---steering stop needed grease after they wear off their little plastic caps.

Thanks for everyone's info. I've had this same problem, but it happens so infrequently and it's so hard to describe that I thought I'd just have to live with it until it started happening more consistently or started causing other problems.

Every 4-Runner sold should come with instructions to check this site out.
