Welcome to the 4th gen family:welcome: You have one of my favorite 3rd gens so i can't wait to see what you have in store for the 4th gen. How are you liking it so far? Looks like your not wasting any time getting out and enjoying it:thumb: All my buddy's i wheel with are always impressed at how well my 4th gen does on the trail with open diffs, mean while they're all wheeling fully geared and locked 1st gens and 70 series LC's. The 4th gen is a great platform and only has room to get better depending on how you want to set it up! I bet i know what front bumper your going with :cheers: That FJ with the long travel is a beast! I've seen a bunch of it on Face book. Good start and pics,looking forward to your build!

Thanks man, I appreciate the kind words about the 3rd Gen. I promise the 4th gen wont disappoint, its already impressed the hell out of me. I am really enjoying the better motor and transmission compared to my 2001. Not to mention the much improved interior. It's an incredibly comfortable platform on the multi-day road trips i've already had it on. Trail performance is great so far also, i dont really notice the extra size. A-TRAC is pretty badass, now to get it paired with the e-locker setup thats sitting in my garage. Going from a locked rig to open diffs has been my only gripe with the 2006 thus far, hopefully that'll be remedied sooner than later.
 
For suspension I wanted to go all out and so I tapped the guys at Icon for their full 2.5" Remote Resi setup front and rear with the CDC Valving. Not gonna lie, when I got the total for everything I ordered my stomach dropped. But, sometimes you've got to pay to play and I knew the team at Icon wouldn't let me down from my dealings with them in the past. I was skeptical on the CDC upgrade but I wanted this truck to have both great street and trail manners so I thought I would give it a shot. I liked the idea of being able to turn up the fronts on the street to dial out bodyroll due to my removal of the front sway bar. Then turn the dials down to get a nice and cush ride when the terrain gets rough.

I originally ordered all my Icon parts from Jason DeMello in Riverside, California and was playing the waiting game for all the components to be built, valved, and shipped out. Well, a great deal fell into my lap for a complete rear e-locker out of a manual trans FJ, along with the front clamshell. The axles are geared at 3.93 from the factory so not only am I getting an e-locker out of the deal I am also getting a little deeper gear ratio without going all in on a traditional re-gear. Only problem, the parts were near Sacramento and shipping would kill the deal. I decided an impromptu road trip sounded awesome! I setup up a week off from work and started planning a last minute trip from southern NM to Sacramento, down to LA/Riverside area to pickup my suspension from DeMello! Refund on shipping costs! The trip went great, I stayed in Vegas with some friends for a couple days and camped out the rest of the nights.

Before I took off I threw a set of Rigid D2s with the driving pattern on to help light up the desert. They will be moved to another bumper shortly.

Pretty good haul for a last minute trip, the contents of that cargo area are going to transform the way this rig drives in any situation!

That's awesome you got the deal on the e-locker! I thought about doing this as well but i think when the time comes i'm just going to do ARB's and do front and rear along with the re gear. Hopefully sooner than later also, after i get my rear bumper gears and lockers are next! Also great choice on the suspension. I love my set up and have been nothing but impressed with the Icons ! I'm sure yours is going to perform amazing with the adjustability!
 
you didnt get the rear coils from that FJC did you by any chance?! the ones i had lined up fell through... now i need a set for my GX.
 
Ridiculous Icon Suspension photo dump. Havent seen many high quality photos of these parts before being installed so i thought i would get some to put in here.

TIG welded Stainless Steel rear shock guards, cheap insurance to keep the lower mounts and shafts from being beat up.

I knew going into this build that regardless of which coilovers I went with I would be using Icon's UCA for the front. Easily serviced via grease fittings on the bushings and a 1" teflon lined FK Uniball. In addition to the best mounting setup out there with a flat top on the UCA when installed instead of having an extra 1"-1 1/2" sticking up waiting to punch a hole in my inner fender at full stuff.

I've been running the Icons' adjustable valving at 5 all around on the street and liking it, takes out a good bit of body roll since I removed the front sway bar and the ride is still oh so smooth. Depending on the terrain I'm still experimenting with the offroad valving, if I am just in the rocks, "S" which is the lower damping control feels like I'm crawling over clouds. If its trail running with obstacles and some higher speed stuff mixed in I have found 3 to be very comfortable. Very happy with these Icons and the CDC Valving.

Built a cargo deck for the rear to bolt the ARB Fridge/Freezer slide to. Reused the factory tie down points for anchors and to hold the 1/4" thick aluminum down. "Bump it!" is just something that gets said a lot on our trails. Thought about powdercoating it, decided that was money better spent elsewhere. I think paint would be too fragile, scratch and look like junk in no time, so I finally just roughed up the surface with a flap disc on my grinder. Added a little texture/grip and called it good.
