NAV disc for 2010 Needed for testing.

Finally got my trail delivered today. The NAV is not showing roads, it just an arrow moving across the screen with some major highways. I am not sure what to make of it never having had OEM NAV before.

So if someone has a 2012-2013 NAV disc they are willing to sell pretty cheap, I would like to try that before I do too much else with it.


On a side note, over the next week I plan on finishing the build 100% on it. We went to eat dinner with Justin (From Rocktek Customz) since he just drove my truck all the way here from TX for me.

Sounds like you have the zoom level set too far out. Try zooming in to 700 or even 300 feet.

Yup, the maps are pretty much worthless and only show high detail at 700ft if you are on anything other than a major highway.

If you want you can have my 2011 nav DVD for free, just PM me.

Anyone know of an European map that'll work for me here in Germany? Talked to dealer here and he said they'd tried (factory euro nav) one on a US Spec runner and it didn't work...? Not sure why. Tired of using my phone for GPS.

you could probably buy a cheap garmin and the german map update for cheaper than you would probably pay for a official Toyota map update.

but that's just me, I am biased to NOT use the vehicle nav unit.

Took a "cheap garmin" with me to Belgium a month ago when I went to pick up two cases of the world's rarest beer(bragging), but that thing took me on a wild goose chase during some points of the commute. Ill probably end up getting a spendy-er one.

did you update the maps before hand or you still using the maps that came with the unit originally?


anyway I have a new 7" (2797 LMT) coming to replace my 5" (warden is getting it) that will replace the wardens 4.3" (which will go to the son for college).

they all have LMT so not a big issue for me. and I told the son, if someone steals the 4.3" not a biggie since its so old but still works like brand new.

One important distinction between TomTom and Garmin is the price difference between their maps. Although Garmin sells maps that cover more countries, their individual maps each cover fewer countries. For example, although both companies have similar map coverage in Africa, Garmin requires you to purchase two or three maps for the same coverage you get with one map from TomTom. This makes TomTom the more affordable choice if you need maps for multiple areas of the world.

in the usa/Canada I would go with garmin but overseas I would look into tomtom, stay away from Magellan they are at the bottom for map coverage.

Me too. I used to program my Google Maps app before I headed out, then program my OEM NAV. Since getting an updated DVD ( [MENTION=15785]J.A.[/MENTION] ) and my NAV seems to boot up faster. My DD, a 07 Civic with NAV, has also been updated. I have to say, the Toyota map database (NAVTEC, I dunno............) is better. I can see some roads (details, POI, road names, etc) that the Honda does not.

But yeah, [MENTION=64685]TOY2G[/MENTION] , try getting an updated DVD (the most up-to-date). I think your year runner still uses the DVD, whereas the newer NAVs use a USB to update the maps.

I use the Garmin 3597 LMTHD in both of our 5th gens...even though they have NAV, the Garmin is reliable and all voice controlled. Not to mention, I use it to keep my speed in check, I'm not really a speeder, but I find my self speeding because I'm always rushing something.

Got it today, loaded it (took a couple min for it to load the first time) and NAV is working like new. All of the roads are displayed correctly now, and it does not have the lag it did. Not sure what the newer disc added from my 2009 disc, but well worth the $17

Seems silly to me that you don't get free updates for NAV during your 3 year bumper-to-bumper. I mean you pay a premium price for the damn NAV/Entune to begin with, noway I want to drop another $170 on updates, that's is ludicrous.
