I'm new to the sight. I just got a 2011 last week. I was playing with the nav and noticed it had places of interest that have been closed for well over a year. Is it possible that it already needs an update or has the new update not come out yet. If so where is the best place to get the update and is this a Garmin based system? Thank you for any help.

If it's the OEM, then you'll have to get map DVD from Toyota.
Toyota usually publishes update around the fall/October time frame each year. The dealer should have a TSB that shows what areas have updates.
It's a Denso/Fujitsu-Ten based system. The interface has a lot of similarities to Eclipse's systems.

Your 2011 should have the latest DVD update which is currently ver 10.1. Updates come out each November so look for 11.1 soon.
