If anyone could help my decision between the AVIC-D3 and the oemvalue.com Toyota Nav unit, it

im not sure about audio shops in your area, your on the other side of the country..
But...
You will need the following
AVIC-D3 (retails for about $999)
Car-side harness (you will need something like the METRA 70-1761 IF you dont have JBL) ($20)
Rear-view cam (i suggest the audiovox liscence plate camera also..its clean, stealty and has a wide angle..ive seen alot of them installed, and they work great) ($200)
Dash kit (not sure right now what the number is, but it will cost appx $20..they will give you a "double din" dash kit (just brackets...unless they can use the factory ones, which IIRC they cant use)
So $1240 in equipment, and parts
national average for labor is anywhere from 150-225 for in-dash nav install..
most retailers run appx $200..most are about $15 cheaper..
The rear view camera will prob cost you appx $75 in labor
so. $1514 for equipment, parts, and labor (APPX)

Awsome advice... appreciate it. I made a call this morning to another shop, and they had some D2s for the same price. Besides the double CD slots, and a slightly larger screen, is the D2 worth it? (I know with the D3, I get the bluetooth)

i personally liked the D2.. i thought it looked fine..the double drive slot feature is nice..
the new D3 has the new ipod connection, allowing you to connect an ipod with only a $35 cable..
The D3 has a front-side aux-in
other than that, they are pretty much the same..
Also, FYI the D2 has been out of production for some time..make sure that the unit is new in box, and that the map discs, harnesses, etc are in the box (the manual will list all the stuff that should be in the box)

The reverse camera that I would recommend is the Eclipse Bec-105 (BEC106 may be out now so check that too) it plugs in directly and is easily installed in the factory location, it is the closest to factory that you can get. I bought mine on eBay for $115 i think (cant remember exactly, I know it was under 150)

if you do decide to use a backup camera such as the eclipse, pioneer, or audiovox that isnt "hidden" in anything
i would suggest hiding it best you can from plain sight..
the front and back of cars are what people see most..people will steal almost anything depending on where you are..
