Nav issue

I was hoping you guys could help me. The problem is not 4Runner related, but you guys have been helpful in the past so I thought I would ask.

My wife's 2004 Landcruiser's Navigation gets confused and puts us in the middle of nowhere every once in a while. It is usually when we are in remote areas (a different nowhere than it puts us). The map DVD is original to the car. Does this sound like it could be fixed with a DVD upgrade or does it sound like a system issue with the nav computer? It seems to fix itself a day or so later when back in the city. Is there a way to make it reset itself? Thank you for your thoughts.

The first thing I would do would be to upgrade.

Some of the 4runners had this issue and were corrected with the update. There was a a TSB for the T4R to correct this.

It sounds like the discs are special order for the dealership. Does anyone know if I can use my 6.1 disc from my 2007 4Runner in her 2004 Landcruiser? I am assuming there may some version difference issue, but I cannot find a version listing online anywhere. We are going out of town this weekend and it would be nice to have nav for the 6 hour trip.
