Nav Override Function Lost

I seriously regret having bought a nav disc update off of ebay and when I inserted the disc it evidently also did a firmware upgrade that, while eliminating the need to push the screen button to start the nav, took away the ability to go into the hidden menu one could access through pushing the left top and bottom corners of the volume screen quickly and then select navigation override, thus allowing nav programming while underway. I only used this for my passenger, but it was a nice feature that is now lost. I'd gladly give up the new roads that were identified to restore that feature, but putting the old disc back in does not fix the issue.

Has anyone had this issue or know of a fix that will re-enable my override capability?

Aus, I noticed that same thing after doing an upgrade. I can't remember which level I did, but it was said to be the final upgrade for 2003 model year. I wish there were a way to replace that whole computer in back with something else and still retain the factory display. (Sort of like using an old monitor screen with a new desktop computer.)

Nav Override Restored

Great news, fellow 4th-Genners. In response to my problem, J.A. whipped up a new disc which provides the latest map updates (16.1) AND restores the nav override option.

This latest Override version for the Gen5 Navigation system should now be available for purchase on his site at http://www.top4runners.com/ja/forsale.html . Don't be confused by the reference to Gen5; this relates to the navigation system in 4th Gen 4Runners and not the generation of the 4Runner. The latest road updates and the return of my override capability; woo-hoo, it works just like it should.

Thanks, J.A., for your ideas and support for our T4R community.
