Nav system memory

If the battery is disconnected, how long will data (nav memory addresses etc) be retained. Is there a backup battery somewhere that needs to be replaced at some interval. Cant find this info anywhere in the manual.

I assumed the Nav memory addresses were saved as a data-files, either on an internal hd or internal flash memory chip - similar to the way your computer saves data files. You might search for specs specific to HU model # to find out for sure.

I checked the nav address book, it doesn't appear any of that info is lost, such as memory points. Because I have a friend's address in the nav prior to disconnecting the battery, which shows the road, but there wasn't a name for the street. (He lives in a new development, which at the time he told me his address doesn't even exists in Google Maps.)
