Navi and OnStar Questions

First post on the forum, but long time reader. Just got a new 2004 T4R Sport and was wondering about putting in the nav. I read Pete's excellent thread about install for the Solara, but my question is, why can't you get a 4-Runner nav? They use one on the Limited, right? Maybe a much more informed reader can help.

Also, have any of you heard of installing OnStar as an aftermarket add-on. Does GM sell the OEM material for a mod? Lexus is listed on the OnStar site, maybe Toyota has something? Let me know? Thanks and great site.

My understanding is that the 4R nav system is two separate pieces, the head unit/ radio up front and the NAV ECU which mounts in the back right quarter panel. To make matters worse, I am led to believe there is no existing wire harness for the Nav between the head unit and the NAV ECU. The Camry/Solara Nav has everthing in one unit which makes the job easier, not simple, but easier.

Running all the required copper wire including shielded cables etc from the back quarter panel to the front center console position would be a pain to say the least.

Hopefully that answers your question.
