Navi turns off by itself

Hey Guys,

We have a 2015 TE and recently the navi will automatically turn off and on by itself. It has done this a few times in the last couple of months. Have any of your guys experience anything like this? TIA.

my 2014 SR5 was doing the exact same thing over the weekend - just got back from the dealer about an hour ago and they updated software as per "TCI#4392" - maybe that will do yours as well

I've never had that happen but I have seen some strange behaviors from our navi systems! If you are sure that it's not caused as a result of various phone call interruptions, try this: Go under the hood and see the main rly/ fusebox near the battery. Open it up and look for the (Amber) 20A fuse labled RAD for Radio.

That's the navi fuse. Pull the fuse and leave it out for a minimum of four hrs; that will RESET the processor that runs the navigation system... that will likely eradicate the problem. If not THEN take it to the dealership and have them update the OS software! Please let us know how you made out with the reset as others are bound to experience the same or similar problem,

The latest Entune update may be causing this. Mine had no problem until Monday, when it restarted 3x on a 20 minute ride. Hasn't done it since though...

I've been getting the restart too. 2 days ago on the 20 min drive it restarted 5 times. But hasn't done it since then. Probably a bug in the latest update

Same thing here. I love my Toyotas but when it comes to stereos/infotainment systems, I don't think Toyota knows what they're doing. My 4th gen was doing this same stuff back in 2008. Dealer replaced the stereo and 6 months later that stereo was doing the same stuff. Here we are, 8 years later and my 5th gen is doing the same on/off/freeze up.

BTW, I replaced the stereo in my 4th gen with a touchscreen Pioneer and haven't looked back. My 5th gen may get the same treatment if Toyota can't figure it out.

i had major issues develop immediately after the required entune update that was pushed out a couple of weeks ago (multiple random reboots within a 20 minute timeframe at the worst case, several over a 4-5 day stretch)...demonstrable correlation with the update, but maybe i just had almost two years of good luck before the reboot issues?

My 2014 just did the restart fun. Four times on way to work. took in to dealer and they didn't do anything since they couldn't replicate. They said some BS about turning off notifications on phone/Bluetooth and not to transfer contacts as the headunit is not able to process data like your smart phone. I have also noticed audio will transfer to phone intermittently. Hoping it doesn't become a consistent problem.

Try shutting off the contact auto update. Got a new headset with the latest software and was still resetting until I shutoff the contact update. Never had a problem since.

Or it could also be your phone. A month ago upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S7. Turned the contact auto update back on and have not had a problem.

I was told that there is an update for this. I have a 2015 and it does the same thing. I'm taking it in Friday.

This was happening with mine, but only when my phone was connected via BT. Once I disconnected my phone, it no longer happens. Maybe it's something more specific than just connecting my phone, but I never dug deeper. I have a POS phone anyway, so maybe once I upgrade I'll try reconnected my phone then and go from there.

Yes I have a 2017 4 Runner and recently mine has started doing this ! It stayed off for almost an hour on a trip I was on the other day? Haven’t been able to take it to a dealership yet!
