Pioneer nav is top of the line stuff... If you want double din look for the AVIC-D1, D2, or Z1. D1-D2 retail at about 1300, Z1 is about 2400...
Kenwood isn't to shabby either... you can get a kenwood double din package for about $1700.
Difference between the D1/D2 and the kenwood is that the kenwood plays DVDs, and is easy to bypass the parking break. They don't have one with nav built in, so you have to add it but its simple and the nav gets updated by the use of a SD card.
Z1 is the most complicated and badass unit on the market...you will not find anything better. 30GB harddrive, bluetooth, etc... its sweeeeeeeet. All of these are touch screen BTW.
If you want a single DIN, price goes up. All of the AVIC N1-N3 are pretty sweet. Those are really the only single dins i've played with. I think these are like $1800 for a N3.

My truck is stock and I have only made two cosmetic changes to it on the outside. I know little to nothing about swapping out my audio system for a navigation system. How do I know if I have single or double DIN?

you have a double din, but you can put either in your 4r. It is equally as easy. You use the mounting brackets off your stock radio to mount up both, the difference is if you put a single din you will put a pocket in underneath the radio.
