how are the factory's navi system? My friend recently bought a infiniti g37 and that navi is tight. Is it better to buy the nav off toyota or get a 3rd party navi? I was looking at one of those in dash navi at circuitcity.com and they said that the pioneer ones don't fit in the 08 models. any suggestions? Has anyone here bought a indash navi other that from toyota and have it work?

I have the Pioneer AVIC Z2 (upgraded to Z3) installed in my 08 4runner. I used a Scosche dash kit. THe unit works fine and looks good.

The Eclipse 5520 and 6620 are plug and play if you don't have the JBL system. You will need an additional kit if you have the JBL system. The map interface is nearly identical to the OEM Toyota nav. Fujitsu Ten, parent company of Eclipse, makes the OEM Toyota nav.

The advantage of the OEM nav, complete integration, Bluetooth and backup camera. Not to say you can't add those aftermarket.

If you have time, patience, don't mind taking it a part and want more features than the OEM, aftermarket is definately the way to go.

My Pioneer AVIC Z2 is installed in my 08 limited which came with the 10 speaker JBL system. It works great and uses the factory amps and speakers.

so if i was to get a aftermarket gps, don't get the jbl system?

Much easier if you don't. If you do, you need an interface kit for the JBL system.

There is a company (oem navigation) something like that...that sells the OEM JBL NAV system that comes in the U.S. model runners... should I avoid this and go with a pioneer or eclipse?

Anyone?

OEMValue.com sells a similar one to the 4Runner's, except the button text color is green rather than amber.
