Will an E7006 HU fit in an 03 4Runner? the price is perfect on ebay and am curious if it will fit. the seller stated that it came out of a 2005 Sequioa (sp?).

Yes, but I believe your radio bezel and climate control/clock display is different because of the 6-disc CD changer. The navigation uses the bezel for the radios that are recessed in, I think which the most basic radio has. I believe the 6-disc CD changer radio is flush with the sides of the bezel where the vents are, thus the difference between the two bezels.

If possible try and get the E7009, it's the same one as the 2006+ 4Runners, except the button text color is green instead of amber (E7008).

Also, find out if the E7006 uses the digital JBL amp or analog. Since you have the JBL system, you'll need the navigation that interfaces with the digital JBL amp.

I've done a lot of research on this and am currently in the process of fitting an E7007 unit (same as the E7009 unit) into my non-JBL 2003.

The E7006 is a digital unit out of Seqouias/Tundras. It is nearly identical to the E7005 that was offered on the 4Runner in 2005 except it has green lighting. It will work in your situation without much trouble, however some minor modifications will need to be made. You will need to change the bezel as Uneek mentioned, or you could leave it and live with the gaps on the side by the vents and maybe on the top/bottom.

As for the amp, you already have a digital amp installed, however it may not have the voice-out capability. In this case, you may need to upgrade your amp to a 2005+ model amp. You can try to run the voice out wires (there are 3 of them) to your current amp to see if the voice guidance comes out. The details on this are available on the oemvalue.com website. If you don't get voice out, you'll need to upgrade your amp. Also make sure you get the speed/reverse sensor wires connected correctly and that the map disc and gps antenna are included, otherwise you will spend a lot of time and money trying to track them down.

I highly recommend looking for an E7007/E7008/E7009 unit if you are going through the trouble.

The button text colors on the E7009 can be switched to either green or amber, correct?

I can't say that I'm 100% sure, but I've read in the past that the only difference was the hard button text color between the E7009 and the E7008.

As far as I know, the E7003 and the E7008 will allow you to change the color of the on-screen buttons for the radio preset, but not for the hard buttons. It's been a while since I fiddled with the settings on the E7003, so I don't recall the color options on that one. The E7008 is between blue and orange for the radio presets, CD changer, etc. on-screen controls.

Sorry for the confusion. I was trying to point on the differences of the two bezels used depending on the radio the 4Runner came with.

tkr128's post better clarifies the differences of each model and the one that would be best suited for your 4Runner.

All OEM Toyota navigations (2002-06 Camry, second gen Solara, current Sienna, first gen Tundra and Sequoia, including the Lexus ES330) will physically fit into your 4Runner's dash opening. The exception are the Prius, 2007+ Camry, 2009+ Corolla, 2007+ Tundra, 2008+ Sequoia, 2007+ Highlander navigations will not fit/work in the 4Runner. It's the shape of the bezel that creates unsightly gaps.

Take a look at this thread, it shows the differences between the single disc and 6-disc CD changer bezel. Hopefully the thread clarifies the differences I was trying to point out about the different bezels.

Sorry for the delay on this issue. I did purchase and have installed the E7007 unit. The hard buttons are green and you can change the on screen buttons between amber and green. All the audio works but haven't hooked up the speed and reverse sensor wires as I am in the process of tracking down a wire harness. As far as the voice output, well again I wont know this until I find the harness. The headunit does fit but like Uneek said, it does have the gaps. All I did was buy a Metra spacer kit, ground out the top, bottom, and sides and fill the little holes with body molding and it looks great. The only problem I am having now is reception. The unit tends to lag a bit and I'm not sure if its because of the GPS Antenna location or because of the speed sensor wire. If anyone has a solution to this I would greatly appreciate it. Also if anyone knows how to change the hard buttons to amber that would be great too but the green isnt too bad.
