I'm a little confused. What is going on with your 4runner? It seems like every day there is some random weird issue. Did you get yourself a lemon or does your 4runner just not like you?

As to your topic, check out pirate4x4 classifieds. There are ALWAYS little misc parts like ecu's for sale there.
 
well someone did a 22r to 22re switch befor I got it and I didn't know it. When I bought the truck it had a blown headgasket so I bought a motor and switched it. The person who build the motor didn't know what they were going and we had to put the chain in the right way and fix the harmonic balancer problem. I got that all fixed and the truck was running pretty good. But I still had a check engine light. I pulled the codes and couldn't figure out y I had them. So we did some looking and found out who ever did the 22r to 22re swap changed everything but the computer. It still has the 22r computer in it.
 
Don't be too set on having the same part number. What year and transmission do you have? A lot of the ECU's are universal.
