Need a bright red brake light

I'm in the market for a set of really bright red brake lights (just the bulbs)....could be LED or incadescent but needs to work with stock wiring and stock rear light housing.

Anybody hava a set or know the brand to look for?

I was just looking for the same thing and won two 7440 (tail and blinker bulb) LED's off Ebay for 7.50. They were CRAP. So, i went to Advance Auto and they are now selling the Sylvania Ultra bright bulbs in the bulb section. Bought two sets of 7440's and one set of 7443 (Brakes) and they are actually pretty bright. I would recommend them but they are pricey - 10 bucks a pair.

I have looked at those but wonder if they are brighter than the LED I already have now. The LED I have came with the tail lights I bought from another member so I have no idea the origin but they look like the same ones I saw on autoluminations or superbrights website.

I need something to shine through the Nite-Shades lens paint I used

Theres realy no way of knowing what might be brighter then what you have.

You might just have to buy a set and see how they look.

I just bought all my interior dash LEDs today, and i looked at tail lights for gigles and they have some high power 7443s on the site, but im not sure how they will work for your application

I agree with Elton.

It's like the bulbs that you buy to replace a real bulb just suck, but the actual LED made applications are great.

Sounds like you just have to settle for the real thing.

Careful, make sure if you buy brighter bulbs that they don't run too hot. My shifter housing melted when I changed to a brighter bulb.

it was just a 194 I got from work. I have them in the Parking lights so I figured why not.

oh well. I'll get a low voltage LED and just tape it into place or something.
