need a little help...

98 4runner limited 245,000 miles...my back window has stopped working and something is killing my battery, I put a new one in thinking it was the battery but the new one died in 8 days?? going to mechanic tomorrow...any suggestions.

My back window stopped working not too long ago also. Assuming back window means the very rear hatch of the vehicle; check to make sure the plug isn't loose. Sounds stupid, but mine wasn't fully plugged in when I had new glass installed after some $#!hole broke mine, it rattled out. Its a few clips and a screw under the cloth handle area.

another thing I might offer is the ignition relay being bad. Perhaps may be draining battery when vehicle is off. Hopefully it's not a wiring problem. Loose harness to the rear window would be nice fix. The battery going dead is much harder to diagnose. If the battery drops below a certain voltage when ignition is off, it tends to get very angry. Do you have a scangauge or multimeter to see exactly what's going on?

I recently went through this, and yes, check rear window wire harness. It's installed from the factory with the heavy end down, so the extra weight makes it easier to come undone. I flipped the brackets around after finding this out. Good opportunity to grease all the tracks etc with cover off.
