So the Panasonic took a dump after 160k miles. I picked up a die hard gold from Sears since it was closest to me but it seems kind of weak at 630 CCA. I can get a duralast gold which is cheaper and had 710 CCA. Should I return the die hard? We get some cold winters here in Chicago.
Need a new battery.

Well the SR5 and some Sport Editions came with the smaller 585cca from the factory, there was an "Optional" 27F 710cca (also standard on Limited of either V6 or V8). So either one should be fine unless it's a Limited. More CCA isn't a bad thing, but that's only part of the story, supposedly Toyota batteries are a good balance between strong CCA and RC (Reserve Capacity)

Being a native chicagoan with the weather bout to dip to single digits i would return it and grab a red top or something with more CCA may cost more but it will last. My red top has 900 something CCA

Yup, go with a red top. They are way more, but well worth it. Could be my imagination, but it seems that a car battery does not last very long anymore. The Red tops are triple the cost, but very reliable.
Try Advanced Auto parts, buy it online and look for coupons and rebates etc. I managed to get about 50 bucks off on mine with about 3 different rebates, rewards, discounts and coupons. Then went down to the store and picked it up.

I've always been a fan of Interstate, I have one in my 4runner, 7th gen Accord, and both Benzes (one being a diesel with a giant battery) and they work great in both places I use them; from the desert SW at 120f to the mountains of the Pacific Northworst with temps around 0f. They seem to last longer than any other I've ever used as well, aside from the GREAT factory-installed Panasonic.
I really wish those were easier to get!

East Penn makes good batteries and can be found at Oreilly's under the Super Start Name. East Penn also makes NAPA's batteries. Sears... meh.. Who knows what you're getting these days... Low bidder manufacturer with a Die Hard name that doesn't mean crap anymore.

I'm also a fan of the 27f. It also comes in the Tundra v8. Should be plenty of battery for the v6.

I just replaced my battery. The two big things you need to decide and look out for are:
- Do you have a preference between traditional lead-acid plate or AGM battery?
- Make sure whatever you get has a good, long warranty, eg, 3 years for full replacement, not the 1 year replacement then pro-rated for the next 2 years. It'll fall at 35 months and you will get 3% of what you paid back.

Love the site link. I'm running dual batteries with 200amp solenoid. Red Top startkng and Yellow for deep cycle. I've been let down by the Red Top twice now. According to DC Specialists, a true deep cycle battery (namebrand Rolls and Lifeline) can be deep cycled without harm.
So my question to you: if money wasn't a factor what deep cycle would you go with?

There are only a handful of battery companies most of them are rebranded and sold at a higher price. Do your research before buying. I usually go after any current deals or warranty offered.

Batteries Plus has a X2 Power AGM battery that is a rebranded Northstar. I bought a 24F for my 09 Camry. I e-mailed Northstar my serial number and they promptly replied that my battery was manufactured about 13 months ago. The 27F X2 or Northstar will be the next battery in my 4Runner.
Thats where I got my battery, Batteries Plus. Yes they have some other sticker on them, I think the X2 power like you said, I dont member. Its a rebranded Northstar though. We buy hundreds of batteries a year for our company so we get a discount, plus they are $30 extra off right now. Was $309, got it for $240. They did not actually stock the 27F, but ordered it for me.
