So it finally happened. Blew a rod in my engine. Anyone have any idea on how to find a decent replacement. And or does anyone know how much a 4runner would go for without a engine. JUst FYI I live in Southern Ca for any gear heads out there.

Sorry to hear that. Just curious but how did you blow a rod? The 'so it finally happened' statement makes me it seem like you expected it!

There are several folks on here who have replaced motors. Main points are to make sure it's the same year and all that jazz. Otherwise the ecu and stuff won't jive.

I think they've gone through salvage places or online used parts distribution.

Definitely make sure to get the right engine. Had mine replaced and they got the wrong engine three times, and installed the wrong engine twice. Double or triple check the year and model the motor came out of. FJ cruiser or Tacoma engines have some differences so its best to play it safe and get one from the same year 4runner if possible. Good luck!

How long did you expect for this to happen?
What circumstance led up to your engines ultimate demise?

Finally? How long were you expecting it?
Junk yards and chop shops; a blown engine 4runner will sell for about shit.
