Need advice and opinion...

Okay,

So i am a new guy here, but have been a 4Runner owner since '05 when i bought mine new.

Here is the situation:

I have a '05 V6 Sport Edition, with new Toyo A/T Open Country tires.

I want to start some minor off-roading/camping, etc. (live in the burbs!)

My truck presently has 125KM on her. No major issues. Synthetic oil and well maintained.

So, is it worth it to put money in to her at this mileage? I want to start off by adding a lift package.

Recommendations? Advice?

I am in Ottawa, Canada.

Your choice on lift really depends on your intended use and budget. If you just want to level her out and not spend much check out the spacer kits such as Daystar and Cornfed.

As far as opinions on lifts they are as numerous as the amount of members on this forum. The first question I would ask is how much money do you have/want to spend? But, for only minor off-roading something such as a Revtek (or the like) 3/2 spacer lift would do you fine. It just goes up from there. OME, Icon, RadFlo, King.....the list goes on and on. Read the money question again.

X2. the mileage is still pretty low IMO for a 2005. Beyond the money question, first try out your stock truck on the trails you plan on hitting and see if you plan on hitting more advanced trails in the future. If it's strictly a clearance issue and the stock suspension is adequate, then spacers are the way to go.

Just keep in mind, alot of us started off with just mild trails and a spacer lift and quickly realized that they wanted something more capable.

My thought is to think twice, buy once.

I am looking first for clearance.

I am was thinking to try and keep the cost below $1000 (Canadian).

IMy second project or buy was going to be a new front grill/protector with a winch.

Honestly, mileage is in your favor really. I mean my 4Runner has almost 90k (miles) on it and I'm planning a whole suite of goodies.

One of them being a 2.5" Lift from Overland Warehouse when I get enough money, truth be told part of the reason I am buying a full lift kit is because my old shocks (the infamous, and yet I actually didn't mind mine too much... XREAS system) are starting to get on in age and need to be replaced, what better way than a new set of shocks and springs!

When you start looking at it that way, you can almost justify any expense on your truck! LOL
