Need advice B/t Two 08 Urban Runners

#1. 08 Urban 4x4 silver 56k miles. Toyota CPO with 2.99 interest. Asking 27,700 but already got them down to 25,500.

#2. O8 Urban 4 x 4 Black 36k miles. NOT certified. Asking 24,900. Won't budge!!!

Both have the added value option package with self dimming mirror and cargo stuff.

Both carfaxes check out pretty good but the #1 option was sold at auction.

Both in KY area.

Have wanted a 4runner for YEARS and finally getting very close. Any help, suggestions is appreciated.

#2, if its a toyota dealer, i think they will charge $1000-1200 to CPO . If CPO means that much to you. Go option 2 and get it CPO'd...
 
Number 2. Less miles, no "auction" which CAN mean hail damage repaired, or some other issue that may have kept it from selling at a retail car lot. Not always, but I've seen it happen alot.
Not to mention it's cheaper!
Wow, NADA retail on an 08' Limited w/ all options that the Urban Runner has is about 35k! I didn't search enough to find the "retail" of the Urban Runner package, but should be about the same. Keeping in mind nothing will bring full retail, it still seems the lower mileage Runner is a pretty good deal.
Good luck! Wish I could trade you paint jobs from my plain white to the three stage pearl on the UR!!
 
Oh yeah, and my opinion on "certified" is that it's a selling point for dealerships.
Most any Toyota with low miles like that is going to be virtually brand new anyway. No need to worry.
 
I think I may be able to get option #1 down a little bit more.

Option #2 is a little dirtier than option #1 but not real bad. Just some stains in the carpet and back seats. It may come out with better cleaning but not sure.

And option #2 is not a Toyota dealer so they can't CPO.

I guess I'm looking for insight as to what you all would do. Thanks again.
 
If you like #1, I would go back and tell them you found number #2. You could even tell them you talked them down an extra $500 (dealer #1 will never know) and see if you can get another $500-1k off...
 
Tough decision.
Your typically going to pay more for CPO, but depending on the interest rate it may be worth it for the peace of mind having the extended warranty. 2.99 is good but not that great over other lending institutions.

Best advice I can give is to look over both vehicles thoroughly and have #2 inspected at a Toyota dealer (or some other worthy pre-puchase inspection). Check all the electroncis to make sure everything works, look for wear and tear on the interior components, etc. If it were me, and both vehicles checked out in similar condition, I would go #2 due to the lower mileage and price. But black is a pain to keep clean compared to white.
 
Lower miles and lower price. NO brainer. CPO is nice but way more miles and more $?. 56k is extremely high miles for an 08. My 04 has 60k.
 
Yeah, I like the lower miles two but I'm afraid that some of the stains won't come out. I think it just may be that the dealer just didn't really bother trying to clean them but if they did, and they are still that bad then...???? It looks like they spilled coke or something in 2 or three places. It's not terrible or anything but you want it to be pretty darn nice for 25,000!!

What do you all think good rates are out there for top credit rating?
 
My 08 Limited has 41000 miles. I was going to turn it in at lease end this year but the payoff is $18k so I am keeping it. But 56k is a lot of miles.

If the option 1 is clean compared to option 2, ask the dealer to add Platinum warranty (800 cost) to the CPO at that price. I prefer the cleaner car (with full coverage warranty) over option 2. Mileage is not an issue, because you are getting warranty for 44K miles.
 
I was in a similar situation about a week ago. I chose to go with the one with lesser miles. Just picked up mine with 39k miles on it vs. the other one that had 66k. Well worth it.

If the stains are not that big of a deal(depending where they are, just clean them to the best you can), they'll be covered up with them "weather-techs" :D

Thanks a lot guys. All the comments have been really helpful. I'm leaning hard towards the lower mile one. The stains are actually on nthe rear seat but i am hopeful that i can get them out. I don't think the dealer put forth much effort on the cleaning at all.

Anybody know what kind of rates to search for with top credit (approx 800)?

Well if you go with the one with lower mileage, that means you wont be able to get the 2.9% promotional rate they have going on.

I bought mine on Saturday from Vegas from a Nissan dealership and they were able to get me 5% (that is with mine being around 730 credit score), and I can always refinance that here at the local credit union (here in Cali) for about 4.25%. Rate's may vary where you live but just giving you a rough idea.
 
If the stains in the carpet are somewhere that WeatherTech liners cover, then it's a non-issue, because the liners are awesome. I covered up a similar stain in my used 04 that way, no big deal... out of sight and out of mind :bigok:

I would go for the less miles one for sure, as long as it checks out. If you ever plan to resell, it'll end up being worth a bit more than the higher-mileage one from the same year in 5 more years, but also a LOT easier to resell.
 
I would go woth the low mile one I believe. Just remember when you clean the seats on the Urban Runner, there is special instructions for the Alcantara seats. You can google it.

Hi miles?dont think so..my 07 has 93 on the clock and it runs great, id go for the less miles..and get a PPI....
 
Well....looks like i am back to the drawing board. My accountant advised me that the 6,000 GVWR no longer applied on being able to deduct the cost for my business. The urban doesn't rate quite high enough (5580#) The new tax laws they passed in December have confused many people (prolly the legislators as well ;) Anyway, in order to deduct much more of the total cost, i must either get a 4th gen limited or any of the 5th gens as the weight rating is over 6,000#. I am now leaning towards new 2011 or possibly a used 2010.

Thanks for all the great info....i was actually on the phone with the dealer yesterday when i got text from my CPA saying "Holdup!!!"
