Need advice: HID 4300K Xenon Depot or get the LED?

I purchased the HID 4300K kit 2 years ago and never installed because of all the mounting of the ballasts and other stuff. I just couldn't see how it would all go in the engine bay without getting ruined. Well, now I'm considering tackling again. I think I may know how to mount all of this stuff so I may do it.

However, for $135 there are apparently good LED Headlight bulbs that just plug right in! No fuss! No double sided tape or zipties or screwing into the sidewall.

What would you suggest? Say F' it on the HID kit and get the LEDs or use the HID kit?

The HID kit I have contains:
PWM Anti-Flicker Module
Relay Harness
4300K philips bulbs (I hear these can crap out after 2 years)
35W BAllastcs (digitical signal procecssor)

The way I see this thing, is there are 4 "little boxes that need to be secured" PER BULB. Seems ridiculous IMO.

I also swapped my headlight housing with this one a few years back.

I too changed from HID to LED. No more wire mess. Everything inside the housing, no drilling. I tried Nilight LED set (low beam + high beam) and very happy with the light output. I think the price is good for 2 sets (Low beam & High beam).

My experience with lighting is, most HIDs will illuminate the road or terrain better than most LEDs but I’ve had issues with HIDs flickering and/or not coming on at all when it gets cold. They’re just too finicky for me so I haven’t used them in years. I’ve had good reliability out of LED lights but they don’t pack as much punch as some HIDs.

I also replaced my headlight housings on my 4th gen years ago with some ebay specials. The projector was absolutely terrible with the OEM incandescent bulbs. The cutoff wasn’t clean at all and had weird hotspots projected on the road. I even purchased a set of semi-clean OEM housings that I was going to swap into place but first I thought I’d try some LED bulbs. Surprisingly, the LED bulbs made a huge difference. The cutoff is nice and clean now and no more hotspots, just decent lighting. YMMV.

I've had the HID kit from xenon depot for 10 years, same bulbs. The one ballast finally died so I got a new kit because the newer wiring is nicer. It's really easy to hide everything. I tucked it under the plastic trim on the 5th gen. I had the kit on my 4th gen and it wasn't a problem either.

Thank you both for replying. I should probably try and mount the HID first to see how it is and just tear it out if it's crap.

keep your hid kit and use it, make sure to readjust your lights to the correct height. other than that, just zip tie the ballast. once you got that itch for better lighting, retrofit hid projectors is way better.
