Need advice on 1990 4R

I am looking to purchase a 1990 4x4 4Runner. It is in outstanding shape, new tires, full tune up. It is a straight drive and has 230K miles on it. I can get this vehicle for $2500.00. Is this a good deal? Are there known issues with this model that I should look for or should I take it to a Toyo mechanic to check out before purchasing? Is this a dependable year for the engine and tranny?
