Need advice on my situation

I didn't do enough research and purchased a used gen 1 TRD supercharger from a local person. I didn't know Magnuson does not rebuild these units anymore. I didn't know parts are no longer available for rebuilding. I f*cked myself good on this one.

Here's the deal...I trusted him as a friend that it was a good working unit with no flaws since it was never mentioned. I gave him the cash - he went and got a new whip, he got back home, and then we started to install it on my rig - and that's when he told me there's a leak from behind the pulley meeting the nose cone.

I'm like...well f*ck man, thanks for telling me...TOO LATE NOW...lets F*CKING install it.

I have purchased the URD 7th injector kit + AEM wideband. (not installed yet)
The supercharger has been on for about 500 miles and now I have started to notice a noise that sounds like something rattling behind my instrument cluster.
I'm trying to figure out if it's the blower or not.
I'm at a point of deciding to scrap the whole boost project - mainly because if a supercharger cant be rebuilt properly...what's the point in having it?

Who / where rebuilds 1st gen TRD Superchargers?

What would you do in this situation..? Magnuson says it's $170 JUST TO LOOK at the unit, and they cannot guarantee a rebuild.

I'm debating putting it all up for sale.

Both of which I have skimmed and such. I definitely do not have the time / patience to attempt this myself.

Now I'm looking for reputable companies that can properly rebuild them / opinions on what else I should do.

Broomfield here. 120th / Sheridan pretty much.

I've never heard it at idle or under 35mph.
Right around 40mph it starts to rattle. It will rattle with throttle and without throttle. I've put it in neutral while going 60mph and heard it.

It ALMOST sounds like wind coming in thru the plastic under the windscreen wipers. I'm free all evening

i would send it to them and let them look at it. It's only $170 dollars and they will be able to tell you exactly what's wrong with it. If they can't fix it find someone who can, at least you know know what the problem is. And they might be able to fix it.

I betting you got a "deal" on it. Probably a lot less than the $3k they cost new. I would assume that you will still come out much better than you would if you had bought a new one.

Don't give up on boost, it's the best thing I ever did to mine.

I wouldn't put it all up for sale. Guaranteed you will probably loose money on that deal.

I had a great experience with Embree Machine rebuilding mine

They did a full rebuild, re-coated my rotors, even painted the S/C. I've put 75k miles on it since then with perfect results and mine is a 1st gen S/C I bought off ebay. Ship it to them and enjoy.

X2 on Embree if you don't want to do it yourself. But especially the nose cone rebuild is super easy.

So both of you have had rebuilds from Embree? Did you opt for the internal thermal coating?

I did the thermal coating but I have heard that if you inject methanol it will break it down. Haven't taken the rotor-pack apart to prove or disprove that.
The are a great company to work with.
